Fundraising is Humbling, But it Showcases God’s Faithfulness

One of the monthly features on the Eurasia Community Blog is about our Financial Partnership Development program, led by Jenn Fortner. In FPD, our associates receive small group training and coaching as they invite individuals and churches to partner with them financially in the work God has called them to in Eurasia.

I hate asking for help.

It’s a very American, pull-myself-up-by-my-bootstraps way of thinking, but it’s the truth.

And it’s contrary to the gospel. The good news of the gospel is that when I was helplessly lost in sin and facing an eternity without God, Jesus stepped in and helped me.

It was nothing I could do for myself.

He did it for me.

Still, knowing that, there’s a self-sufficiency that I fight on a regular basis. But after today’s story I am encouraged to let God work in me as I lean on others in the body of Christ, and I hope it encourages you, too!

Melody is one of our workers currently raising funds to come to Eurasia Northwest.

She recently shared with me how the process of asking people to help her out by coming alongside her as members of her support team, is helping her to learn humility and to rely on God’s faithfulness.

Not long ago, Melody was able to sit down with one of her college professors, a woman who had a tremendous impact on Melody’s life, and share with her the call she’s experience to come to Eurasia.

Melody says,

“I wish I could say that I was able to eloquently give the invitation to partner with me, but I kind of stumbled over my words. It got quiet and then [my professor] looked at me and said with tears welling up.  ‘Melody, you know that I have always believed in you.'”

That day, Meloldy’s professor committed to joining her support team.

She also recently received a pledge of support from her home church, a small congregation of only about 30 people. Their generous pledge was well over and above what she had expected.

She told me,

“It is hard to get past the nervousness of reaching out to potential partners. But I am learning that this is such a blessed time to be able to invite the many different people, who have played a part in my life, to join me in this next season.

“But most importantly, it is a journey where God is showing me His amazing faithfulness….The ways that I am seeing God work in people’s hearts to join me on this journey is so humbling. He is so good!”

Maybe you need help with something today.

You never know how reaching out and asking someone tho come alongside you will be a faith-building moment for them, as they respond to God in obedience.

Or maybe you need to reach out in generosity and help someone else.

There are many people like Melody who are trying to raise support to come to Euraisa. Even if you can’t come yourself, you can be a part of the work they’re doing by becoming a financial partner.

You can give securely to the Eurasia Community anytime right here

And thanks, as always for being a part of this community. We couldn’t do this without you.
