The following information and prayer suggestions for Eurasia Northwest are adapted from our book Prayers: A Journey Through Eurasia, which we gave away at General Council in 2017.
India is a vibrant swirl of color and sound.
Bright saris fill shop windows as Hindi love songs blast from behind shop doors.
And everywhere—everywhere—there are people.
India has a population of over a billion, and those people comprise more than four thousand distinct people groups, each vastly different in culture, social standing, and belief system. This stark diversity creates a tremendous challenge for missions, as each unique people group requires gospel workers who will take time to understand and carefully relate to their needs.
- Pray for workers in India. India has more unreached people groups than any other nation, and we need people who will heed the Spirit’s call to bring the gospel to India.
- Pray for training and discipleship in India, to raise up more pastors for the growing church there.
- Pray against the spirit of false religion. Both Hinduism and Islam, along with Sikhism, Buddhism, and Jainism, have strongholds in this large nation.
- Pray that God will heal the brokenness in India. Though the caste system is officially illegal, discrimination and violence against the lower castes is commonplace.
Thanks for praying, and thanks for being a part of this community. We couldn’t do this without you.
