Talk Time: How We’re Reaching the Unreached in Southern Asia

In many parts of Eurasia, we have to use creative means to be able to share the gospel with the unreached.

One team has a vision to make disciples among the unreached Tibetan Buddhist people groups of Nepal. Many of these people groups live in mountainous, very remote villages all across the Himalayan region of Nepal, making them virtually inaccessible and without a witness of the message of Jesus.

However, children are coming from these villages to Kathmandu for their education. Because of the opportunities is provides for work and further education, one of the greatest felt needs of these students from the villages in the Himalayas is to learn conversational English.

And who better to help meet that need than our English-speaking workers on the field in Southern Asia?

So, last January, this team launched an English conversation club called “Talk Time.”

The vision was to help meet the need to learn English for these Tibetan and Nepali students studying in Kathmandu, while at the same time, giving our team members a natural opportunity to build relationships with young men and women that are away from the pressures of their families and communities and are open to new ideas.

We do not openly present the Gospel during class, but through the relationships our team is building, our team members are often able meet with the Talk Time students outside of class and discipleship is happening!

We’re excited about all of the relationships that have formed over the past year and are believing for God’s continued blessings on this initiative as His name is proclaimed. And Lord willing, these students that are coming to know Jesus will be able to take the gospel back to their villages and share the good news of Jesus in places we might never see.

Please pray with us for these Talk Time classes.

They meet on Thursday afternoons from3:30 – 5:00 PM. Pray that the Lord would bring us students whose hearts are open to receive the Truth and with whom we can build lasting, Jesus-centered relationships.

And, as I’m sure you can imagine, there are costs associated with providing an outreach like Talk Time. You can help support the work this team is doing by giving securely right here.

Thanks so much for participating in this important work in Southern Asia through your prayers and gifts. We really couldn’t do this without you.
